Victorious Living
What Ephesians is to the New Testament, the book of Joshua is to the Old Testament. It is the story of the conquest of Canaan by Joshua and the children of Israel. Many have relegated the message of this book to a mere Bible story for the child’s Sunday School class while others see it as addressing the final victory of the Saints when we enter Heaven. It thus becomes a book addressing only the past or future, but not the present.
In 2005 and 2006, Pastor-teacher Daniel Woods spent several months preaching through the book of Joshua at the Wesleyan Pentecostal Church of Washington, North Carolina. He shared how the message of Joshua is for us today, and preached how Christ Jesus is our Joshua who is ready to lead us to complete victory and an abundant life in the grace of God. We need not be defeated by Satan, sin and self, but through Christ and His cross we can conquer our foes and live victoriously. Only in Christ can we have rest from all our enemies. The Canaan land experience is for us as Ephesians declares he has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places.
